Oh yes! And doesn't he capture the 'feel' of Namibia perfectly?
They're stunning Mawm--thanks so much for posting those.
How can this little green Pacific island ever feel like home?

Kg - I'm a lucky man as I have a close family and some good friends (even some through blogging!). My interets through necessity have changed, I miss the bushveld but have taken up sailing. This has been a steep learning curve but very enjoyable.

I firmly believe that it is your attitude that determines whether or not you are happy and not your surroundings.

gecko - He has some murals in the SA Embassy in London and in the Johannesburg station that are pretty impressive. I particularly like the way he has used the geometric shapes in his trees, rocky cliffs and clouds. If you look at the quintessential African Acacia trees there is a kind of geometry in them with their flat tops and the angles of the branches.

I guess I view the world through the prism of 'Der Fliegende Hollander'--too long spent travelling and nowhere to truly call home.
You're a lucky man if you can make a new home, Mawm. :-)

I checked out his photos last night, it appears there are only 16 of them. My favourite is the first photo you put up, he has captured the acacias beauty perfectly!

Welcome Bee. Pierneef was an amazing painter. Pity he didn't 'forget' a few paintings in your rondawel.
