Israel seeks all clear for Iran air strike

Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.
To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran's nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.

A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an "air corridor" in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons.

Good on Israel.

With Iran rejecting the Holocaust and not recognizing Israel as a State these guys could do what America cannot do, as they did to Saddam's Osirak installation about 20 yrs ago.

All the ME wogs hate Israel so let's see what they can do to counter this!

Good for Israel--but why are they doing the dirty work for the rest of us in the West? Have we lost our balls to this extent?
I'm not convinced by that report, though--why would they telegraph their punches this way?

Is this not a tactic to scare the Iranians into complying with the UN resolution, a way to avoid actually having to use the bomb?
Now if the Americans were showing the mullahs that they were also preparing to bomb them, if France and Russia applied trade sanctions, we might see some compliance. But we won't as the Dems and the frogs want to see the war in Iraq fail and they want to see Bush back down from his hardline stance with Iran.
